Solution #1
Make use of the space underneath your beds. An under the bed storage container is a great spot to store out of season clothing, mementos, or even your gift wrapping supplies. If your bed is not high enough to slide a bin underneath, bed risers are available at home decor shops.
Solution #2
In order to take full advantage of the awkward space under your kitchen or bathroom sink, make a stop at the hardware or home supply store. There is a special shelf available for just this purpose. It is heavy duty plastic and easy to assemble. It is adjustable and will fit around the plumbing pipes!
Solution #3
Does your family take vitamins and supplements on a regular basis? Are you sick of opening all those bottles to access the ones you need when you need them?
Make a stop at the craft supply store and purchase one of the sectioned containers with a flip top lid that are often used to store beads and small craft items. Empty your selection of vitamins into the various sections and label each section. Then when it is time to take your supplements, simply take the sectioned container out of its storage spot, open the lid and take what you need. You can keep all of the bottles in a storage bin and store them somewhere that isn’t in prime real estate. Just bring that bin out when you need to replenish your sectioned daily container.
Solution #4
It is important to have a kitchen overflow spot. This is a place – outside the kitchen – where you store items that you rarely use. lt can be a shelf in the basement, mudroom, laundry room etc. Things you store here might include your punch bowl, your soup pot, plastic pieces that you use occasionally for entertaining, baking and cooking in large quantities. Your kitchen is prime real estate. You don’t need to be rooting past things everyday that you seldom use!
Solution #5
Place a container or basket near your front door for items on their way out, such as purchases to be returned to a store or items to take to friends or family members. Having them near the exit will remind you to take them with you the next time you leave. There are lots of pretty flip-lid baskets that you can use. They contribute to your home and are much more visually appealing than all those items cluttering surfaces in your home.
“I choose to surrender my anxiety and my sense of urgency. I will allow God to guide me in the pacing of my life. I choose to open my heart to God’s timing. I release my deadlines, agendas and striving to the gentle yet often swift pacing of God. As I choose to open my heart to God’s unfoldings, my heart attains peace. As I relax into God’s timing, my heart contains comfort.” – Julia Cameron
